There are many advantages to coming to the Teen Zone after school. Besides the great
camaraderie among friends, you can maintain and improve your educational goals. There are
several areas that you can quietly read, study, and compare notes. There is also a designated lab
specifically designed as a homework room. Inside you will find all of the resources needed to
make the grade! The Teen Zone provides many opportunities for young students to:

Technology & Imagination
The Teen Zone has a state of the art computer lab
for teens to work on school projects, or to just play
the latest online game from our approved list of
internet sites. Photo editing, page layouts and
proofing can all be done in this one stop shop.
Integrate your work from the computer lab into
other aspects of the Teen Zone programs and turn
regular photos into memorable scrapbooks with the
combination of our arts and crafts area and the
computer room.
Employment Coaching
Teen Zone staff are dedicated to helping teens enter into adulthood by assisting in filling out
applications, preparing resumes, and practicing for interviews. Advantages to youth at the Teen
Zone include the use of internet job searching, postings of job openings, and other resources
providing optimal experiences to the young job seeker.
College Preparedness
Teen Zone staff members are there to help provide guidance and support to students desiring to
enter into the college realm. You can preform internet searches for colleges. You can fill out
applications for enrollment. You can also search financial aid links,
and prepare FAFSA
applications.
Lounges & Game Room
There are many places to hang out inside the Teen Zone.
There are 2 TV lounges boasting oversized projection
televisions. Several quiet spaces to talk, read or just sit
back and play your favorite board games. The Teen Zone
also has a pool table, ping pong and foose ball tables.
At the Teen Zone you wont have to decide. Whatever game system you
enjoy (Wii, X-Box, X-Box 360, Playstation3, Playstation2, or Game
Cube) we have the latest and newest. To top it off, play them on
the big screen with surround sound. All available at the Teen
Zone.
Field Trips
The Teen Zone provides a variety of field trips throughout the year.
There are several major and minor league teams in Washington.
With the back drop of beautiful Mt. Rainier, and the various trails
and scenic views, the Teen Zone takes every opportunity to visit
these landmarks. Shopping, site seeing, to amusement parks and
zoos, there are plenty of places to explore with the Teen Zone.
4 - H CLUB
Register for the 4 - H Club when you register at CYS. The 4 - H Club at the Teen Zone offers
many programs and speakers to enrich your character. There are many programs offered through
the 4 - H Club. Operation Military Kids (OMK), Hero Packs, Purple Camp are just a few examples
of how 4 - H will benefit you.
Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA)
The Boys and Girls Club offers a variety of Leadership opportunities for young adults. Youth ages
11 --13 may participate in the Torch Club. Youth ages 14 - 18 may participate in the Keystone
Club. Become a member of either the Torch Club or Keystone Club and share your leadership at
the Teen Zone!
Community Outreach
Community Outreach programs are geared towards enriching our community. This program offers
youth the opportunity to fulfill Community Service requirements for graduation , civil matters, and
as a means to connect with others.
Proposed projects include:
• Adopting a street on post
• Big Brothers & Sisters
• Mentoring
• Tutoring
• Volunteering
Teen Bucks
Earn teen Bucks by volunteering and exhibiting positive choices around the center. Teen Bucks
may be exchanged for prizes and drawings
Summits & Forums
There are many opportunities for youth to share their experiences with others. Active participants
in both Torch Club and Keystone Club are encouraged to attend local and national youth
conferences
Courts & Fields
The Teen Zone has a full size indoor basketball
court and an outdoor court. With little set up,
there is an indoor volleyball court too! Adjacent
to the facility is a large field for baseball,
football and other field events
Picnic Area & Playground
The Teen Zone has a challenging playground
and obstacle course right outside the back
door! Relax and enjoy lunch, or join in for a
BBQ under the lit covered patio. The Patio
offers a sheltered retreat to talk to friends, play
a board game or just soak in the fresh
Washington air. On select Summer weekend
nights, the patio becomes the hub for our open air movie theater
Basketball Tournaments
LATE NIGHTS at the Teen Zone is a designated night of hoops, brackets and food. Get your team
together and sign up for the next LATE NIGHT at the Teen Zone tournament.
Base Resources
Fort Lewis hosts a large range of activities located just a short walk from the Teen Zone. There are
tennis courts, basketball courts, Indoor pool, renovated bowling alley, skating rink, skate park,
dining, shopping, theaters, as well as many others.
Fine Arts
Enjoy the culture and beauty of dance, literature, and song by joining along on our cultural trips to
area theaters and studios. Put on a show of your own! There are always parts to play in our drama
club. Bring your ideas and talent to the Teen Zone.
Arts & Crafts
Try your hand at the many crafting opportunities at the Teen Zone. Drawing, painting, sewing or
anything else your imagination can think of, you can make it. The Teen Zone has a large selection
of materials and supplies to complete a variety of projects.
